February Nail Art Challenge- Gradients

I’m cutting it close on this one! I’ve been in a bit of a funk again. I don’t know what’s wrong with me lately. So I’m taking a bit of a blogging break. I’m still going to try to finish this challenge. Hopefully I’ll be back up to speed here soon.

Today’s challenge is “Gradients.” I chose to use Zoya Wednesday and Sally Hanson Mellow Yellow. Zoya Wednesday is one of my untried polishes.

I forgot to tape up before I started sponging! lol I had a MESS of blue to clean up and most of it didn’t want to come off. So if you’re looking at my cuticles like “what the heck?!”… that’s why.

ImageHere are the other girls gradients! They did great. 🙂

Don’t forget to enter our Multi-Blogger Giveaway! It closes in exactly one week from today and you have a shot at 11 chances of winning.

Happy Saturday everyone! I hope you’re all having a terrific weekend so far. Mine has been… entertaining. I’ve had a busy week and not a lot of time to do my nails so I was itching to sit down today and put something new on.

I received my Zoya order, the 3 polishes for $10. I wanted to wear Opal right away. It’s so darn pretty.

I used two coats of Julep Kim as my undies for Opal since this is a fleck effect top coat. I really wanted to get all three of the Fleck Effect polishes but I resisted. Opal is the only one available on the site right.

Lavender Susie

Happy Monday!

One of my Facebook nail polish groups set up an event for using untried polishes this month. I’ve noticed that so far I’ve only used my untried polishes so I’m going to keep up with that this whole month. That was really my goal as I started this blog anyways. But I always find myself going back to the same ones I know and love.

Today I’m wearing Julep Susie and Milani Lavender.

ImageSusie is a BEAUTIFUL powdery, sky blue color. I’ve received a lot of complements on this one. Even from my husband! ::gasp:: He noticed it before I shoved my hands in his face and yelled “LOOK!” like I normally do lol. Of course, I had to give him credit for it anyways since he bought it for me ;). He just didn’t know it.

Lavender is part of the Jewel FX line from Milani. It’s a clear base coat with purple micro and hexagon glitter. It’s very pretty and I think it made a great accent with Susie.

Do you like this combination? What are some colors you would like to see together? I’d love some inspiration for you all.

Also, SALE ALERT! I’m sure you’ve probably seen this already but Zoya has a sale going on until 1/13/13. Three free nail polishes with the promo code Zoya2013. You only have to pay shipping and processing which is $10. So $10 for three Zoya polishes isn’t bad at all! There are some restrictions though. Aren’t there always? It’s limited to US only and it excludes Zoya Nail Treatments, Gilty Pleasures and Spring 2013 Lovely & PixieDust Collection colors.

I ordered Faye, Opal, and Wednesday 🙂

Red and Green

I know I said I probably wasn’t going to participate in another nail art challenge until January but I couldn’t resist lol. One of my Facebook polish groups, Show Me Your Top Coats,  is hosting a holiday nail art challenge on the group blog. So of course, I just had to join :).

This will run every two day’s with December 24th being the final day.

Today’s challenge is Red and Green. I have a holiday party tomorrow so I wanted to do a simple cute mani and incorporate red and green.

I used 2 coats of Zoya Farah as my base color. On the tips of my nails I used one of my new Julep polishes called Cindy. I created the dots with a small dotting tool and Julep Scarlett, another new polish. Topped it all off with HK Girl Fast Dry Top Coat and I’m all ready for my party tomorrow.

You can click on the InLinkz below to see all of the other girls Red and Green mani’s too.

Polish Us Pink- week 4

Welcome to week 4 of Polish Us Pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month!

I can’t believe October is almost over with. Where has the month gone?! Next week will be my last Polish Us Pink post.

For today’s mani I used Julep Jennifer, Zoya Layla, and caviar beads.

I started with 3 coats of Julep Jennifer on all of my nails except my ring finger. Jennifer is a very sheer pink so it took 3 coats to get the coverage I wanted. However it made for a very long dry time. Even with a quick dry top coat.

Next I took Zoya Layla and did a chevron stye french manicure and painted my ring finger with this Zoya pink as well. I still felt like it needed a little something so I pulled out my caviar beads that I’ve never tried before and added them to my sticky, wet polish on my ring finger.

I kind of messed the beads up a bit by moving some of them around. You can see the pink from Zoya Layla on them. I’ll remember that for next time I try this out.

Happy Monday everyone! I’ll be back later with my purple day 2 post. XOXO

Guess what! I got a Helmer!!! Haha, I’m sure most of you are sitting there thinking “what on earth is she talking about?!” This is a Helmer:

HELMER Drawer unit on casters IKEA Slot for label on each drawer. Helps keep contents organized and easy to find.

It’s pretty much like a teenie tiny filing cabinet. Perfect for storing polish and all the miscellaneous stuff that goes along with it. I talked my husband into putting it together last night so I could spend nap time today filling it up :). It’s metal so it’s best to put those grip liners (for kitchen shelves) in the bottom of the drawers so your polish doesn’t slide around everywhere.

Alright so it’s 12pm, my Jayden finally decides to go down for nap, and I start packing the Helmer. I was able to fill 3 drawers but leave enough space for my future polish as well. In the top drawer I have all of my Julep, Butter London, Essie, Orly, OPI, and Zoya’s. They’re not color organize right now. I’ll get to that during nap time another day 🙂

Drawer 2 has my China Glaze (notice how they’re almost all neon? haha), Nicole by OPI, Sinful Colors, Color Club minis, my 1 MAC, and a bunch of drug store brands.

And finally, drawer 3. It’s full of my top and base coats, polish remover, glitter pots, caviar beads, nail files, cuticle oil, quick dry drops, restore, nail clippers, etc.

There is enough room in the drawers to add to my collection. I have a 4th drawer full of cotton balls but I didn’t figure you wanted a picture of cotton balls lol. My last two drawers I will probably fill with make up or eventually more polish :). I hope you like my stash! XOXO
