February Nail Art Challenge- Glitter Loaded Nails

Hi girls (and guys)! Welcome to day 3 of the nail art challenge. I was really looking forward to todays challenge because I wanted to try out a jelly sandwich. I’ve flipped back and forth between actually liking or not liking this nail art style. Currently I like it lol.

I’m still trying to stick with using my untried polishes when I can. Today I have one of my untried polishes for you. It’s also an indie from Once Upon a Polish called Under the Sea. Unfortunately, she’s no longer making polishes but I was lucky enough to grab this one before she closed up shop. I’m so glad I did because it’s beautiful!

Under the Sea was described in her Etsy shop as “holographic blue hex glitters with holographic silver square glitters in a clear base.” It’s such a beautiful polish. I had to do some dabbing to get the glitter in place because it’s just so packed full of chunky glitter that it doesn’t spread so even.

To create my jelly sandwich I started with 3 coats of Essie Muchi Muchi. This is one of my favorite Essies. It’s a sheer bubble gum pink color. After the 3 coats of Muchi Muchi dried I layered one coat of Under the Sea. Then one more coat of Muchi Muchi and a final top coat of Under the Sea. Lot of layers of beautiful :).

ImageI’m really liking this combo. It almost reminds me of those big speckled gumballs.

I want to give you all a quick reminder about the epic giveaway going on. It’s open until the 24th so if you haven’t entered yet then you still have time. You can find the details for it here.

February Nail Art Challenge- Half Moon Mani

Hello everyone! Ready for more half moons? After I painted my nails for the half moon challenge last night, I realized that the colors are similar to the colors I used last time around for this same challenge lol. Super creative, huh?

9 Day Challenge February 2013

ImageIf you don’t remember (or if you’re one of my new followers) I used purple and gold last time. So not completely the same but similar.

ImageFor today’s half moons I used two coats of Julep Gayle as my base color. It’s a dark purple creme. Very pretty in the right light. I used circle stickers this time to help with my half moon. Last time I free handed it but it was a pain. I painted two coats of Essie Beyond Cozy for the top half of the half moon. Once that dried, which was fairly quick since it’s such a dense glitterful (I may have made that word up) polish, I used a small dotter and just made little dots around my moon shape in the same color purple, Gayle. Top coat it and you’re done!

Check out the InLinkz below to see how the other girls did with their half moons!

Dust Bunnies

Happy Saturday! I hope you’re all enjoying your weekend. Mine’s been kind of hectic getting ready for Christmas and planning a surprise party for my hubby tonight. I still have time for polish though :-D.

Today I’m wearing another Whimsical Nail Polish by Pam. This one is called Dust Bunnies. I’m REALLY loving her polish. I’ll need to ask Santa for more this year ;). If you missed my last post on Peacock Park, this is an indie that you can purchase from her Facebook page for $10 a bottle. She has all kinds of great polishes.

Dust Bunnies is a beautiful gray polish packed full of silver glitter. I have 2 coats of Julep Meryl as a base and 1 coat of Dust Bunnies over top. Look at all the glitter after just one application. So pretty!

ImageThere’s a macro bottle shot. There are some small black glitter in there as well. You can kind of see them in that picture.

So, what do you think of this one? I got a lot of request for indie reviews so I plan to do a few more here in between my nail art challenge days.

Gift of Sparkle

Day 7 of purple week is here! I have to admit… I’m missing my other colors lol. I let Jayden pick the color for next week and of course he went with his favorite of all colors. You’ll find out tomorrow ;).

Today I’m wearing Color Club Gift of Sparkle. I feel like I say this a lot but this color surprised me. When I applied the 2nd coat of it, I was in love! It’s a beautiful purple glitter. It has small silver, blue, and purple glitter inside.

I ordered this in a set of mini’s off of HauteLook awhile back. I believe it’s a Christmas Collection, I’m just unsure of which year. Today while I was at Sally’s Beauty I saw a similar purple glitter for this year’s Color Club Holiday collection.

These pictures were taken in doors and they’re of 2 coats of polish.

My first Indies

A friend of mine surprised me with some awesome nail mail the other day. Her and her fiance are starting their own Indie Nail Polish line! I’m so excited for them and can’t wait to see what all they have to offer. They haven’t decided on an official name just yet so stay tuned for an update. So far one name they have in the works in K.T. Lacquers. K.T. is their initials: Kellen and Tara. Update: They decided on the brand name “Kelara Lacquers”

The two colors they sent me are Seaside and Butterfly Kisses. I think the names are perfect for the polish as you can see in my pictures below.

Seaside is a beautiful shimmery blue with small silver glitters inside. I fell in love with this color when I put it on. I’ll definitely be buying more of this in a full size when their line is open. Look at how beautiful it is! This is 2 coats in direct sunlight.

Butterfly Kisses looks like it’s a light purple iridescent polish packed full of purple, pink, blue, and butterfly glitters. It really is pretty! It’s not something I would normally wear but it would be perfect for the little princess in your life :). I layered 2 coats on bare nails. I think next time I’ll try it out with some “undies” underneath.

I can’t wait to see what more Tara and Kellen come up with and I’ll give you more updates on their line as it comes about. XOXO
