February Nail Art Challenge- Inspired by a Pattern

I want to give a warm welcome to all of our new followers :). Hi everyone! I know most of you are here from the giveaway. Good luck to everyone and I hope you all decided to stick around after the giveaway is over too. I’m jealous of all of you all getting to enter that giveaway. Those are some great prizes!

If you’re not even sure what giveaway I’m talking about and want to enter it, you can find the details about it in this post.

Ok now back to the nail art challenge. Today’s theme is ‘Inspired by a Pattern’. I bought a new shirt recently that I just love. It’s mauve pink with gold dots. I knew it is what I wanted to use for my pattern. After I started putting my pictures together I realized that day 8 is polka dots too. So I’ll have two polka dot nails this challenge lol.

ImageI used two coats of Essie Eternal Optimist as my base color and then created gold shimmery dots with Julep Sienna in the same pattern they’re on the shirt.

Here’s a picture of my inspiration with my nails. ImageImageI really like these colors together. I probably would have never paired them up on my own had it not been for my new shirt :).

And as always, check out all the other great mani’s from this challenge! 🙂

Today I have a duochrome goody for you! My husband actually surprised me with this polish yesterday. He came home from his morning jog, woke me up, and handed me a polish. That was a first! lol He must finally be coming around and supporting my obsession :).

Sally Hansen Lava is the polish I’m referring to. It’s part of their Lustre Shine line. I’ve walked past it a million times in Walgreens but have never grabbed one. I’m lucky he has such a great eye or I would have been missing out on this beauty.

ImageIt shifts from pink to orange to gold. I love it. It was pretty sheer. I’m wearing two coats but next time I wear it I will probably go ahead and do 3 coats. I may try to layer it over black too!

ImageSo all in all… the hubby has good taste! lol I do love this one.

Julep Julia

I really am so in love with Julep’s December box. I haven’t found a color yet this month that I don’t like. Julep Julia is proof of how awesome it is.

Julia is an orchid purple with tons of gold shimmery micro glitter throughout. I can’t even put into words how in love I am with this color. It’s so stunning.

I think I’ll be using this one again soon in one of my days of the nail art challenge ;).

*** I forgot to add that this is 3 coats of Julia and 1 coat of HK Girl Fast Dry Top Coat .

Oh Christmas Tree, oh Christmas Tree…

Happy hump day everyone. We’re halfway through the week. Woohoo! I’m also half way through this December Nail Art Challenge. Time fly’s when you’re having fun.

Today’s theme is Christmas Tree. You all told me you wanted more tutorials so I decided to go ahead and create a tutorial on how I made my tree as well. It’s very simple and I believe that anyone could do it :). Hope you enjoy it.

To start, just choose your base color for your nails. For this particular design you’re going to want to choose a color that you want as your tree garland as well. I chose Julep Sienna which is a metallic, shimmery gold color. I painted two coats, topped with top coat, and let dry for a few hours. This step is important because you’re going to be using tape. ImageDon’t mind the knick in my nail. Remember I have a two year old :). Normally I would fix that but in this mani I’ll be covering it up anyways.

After you’ve waited a few hours for your nails to dry, you’re going to need to grab scotch tape and stripping tape. Cut about 4 pieces of striping tape and two pieces of scotch tape. Rub your fingers over the back of the tape to take some of the sticky away. You don’t want it pulling your base color off of your nails.

Next, take your two pieces of scotch tape and tape an upside down V on your nails with the open part of the V at the tip of your nail and the point towards your cuticle. If you’re confused then you’ll see what I mean in the picture below. Then take your striping tape and just tape zigzags on the inside of your V. Mimic the way garland would be hung on your tree. Image

Then you’re going to grab your green polish that you want to use as your tree color. I’m using Color Club Ho-Ho-Holly. It’s the perfect Christmas Tree green. Paint one to two coats of green over top of your taped off area. Image

Now you need to quickly, but carefully, take your tape off. Make sure to do this while your green polish is still wet or it will leave holes in your tree by taking polish with the tape. Voila! You have a cute little Christmas Tree with garland.Image

Now feel free to decorate your tree as you wish. Or you can even just leave it plain. Whatever makes you happy. I decided to add some Christmas ornaments on mine. I used Color Club Berry and Bright for my tree topper, Julep Harley for the silver ornaments, and Color Club Gift of Sparkle for the purple ornaments. To add the ornaments I used the smallest of my dotting tools. You can also use the end of a pin, the tip of a pen, bobby pin, whatever works for you.Image

I decided to add tree garland on my other nails so this is how my finished mani turned out: Image

I hope my tutorial was helpful for you! Let me know if you have any questions. You can check out all the other great Christmas Tree manis by clicking the InLinkz below.

Cheering on my team with my mani

Most of you don’t know this yet, but I’m really into college football. Especially if it’s my boys playing (Florida State Seminoles). Today is our rivalry game and the game I wait all year for. Go Noles!

I painted my nails today to root on my team. Garnet and gold. I was just going to paint one accent nail gold and leave the rest of them red, but when I applied Butter London West End Wonderland I couldn’t just use it on one nail. I’m lucky I even left nails for the red polish. It is beeeautiful! If you’re looking for a great glittery holiday gold then I’ve found it for you! Seriously. I can’t wait to wear this one again. I haven’t even figured out how I’m going to talk myself into taking it off yet.

Oh right. I have another color on too :-P. The red is Julep Molly. It’s a beautiful red creme. It looks like I am wearing a holiday mani. West End Wonderland reminds me of some of my Christmas tree bulbs. That could be another reason why I’m so partial to it. 🙂

All together now. Image

This is two coats of West End Wonderland and two coats of Molly. I used HK Girl Fast Dry Top Coat and have two layers of the top coat over West End Wonderland.

So how are you spending your Saturday afternoon. Hopefully I’ll be celebrating tonight with a team win!

November Nail Art Challenge- Day 5

Hi there! Hope everyone is having a terrific week :).

Half moon mani day! I’ve been excited for day 5 of this challenge for awhile now. I’ve never done a half moon mani and wasn’t sure I would like them because they’re not really my style. I think I’ve changed my mind now that I’ve done my first half moon mani. I loooooove this one!

I’ve seen raves about the new Pure Ice collection at Walmart. Who would have thought? Haha. Well I had to check it out for myself. I have to say, I was pretty impressed myself. I only grabbed two for now but I will be back to grab a few more. I believe I read that there are 5 different collections with 55 new colors. I grabbed Temptress (Metro Chic collection) and The Family Jewels (Party Glam collection). Of course I had to try them out for my half moon mani today :).

I started by applying two coats of The Family Jewels making sure it was thicker near my cuticle so the glitter would really stand out. I added a coat of HK Girl Fast Dry Top Coat (which you can purchase here) to smooth the glitter out.

Once that dried I had to free hand my half moons with Temptress. It was a bit harder than I expected but I got it on the 2nd try. Once that was fairly dry I topped it with another coat of HK Girl.

I’ve seen tutorials on Pinterest for half moon mani’s and they use hole reenforces to help create the half moon effect. Wouldn’t you know, while I was at Walmart I didn’t even think to grab any. I still think it turned out pretty good though. I love the color combination too! Temptress is purple with a gold shimmer and The Family Jewels is gold micro glitter and gold holo diamond glitter in a clear base.

Leave me a comment and let me know what you think! Also if you haven’t followed the No Bottle Left Behind Facebook page yet, then what are you waiting for? 🙂 Follow here to keep up with blog postings and other great things like nail polish giveaways and such.

Hello there again! I hope you’re all having a terrific week so far. It’s almost Friday! 🙂

Today I’m showing you an indie brand I came across on Etsy awhile back. They’re called Northern Star Polish. They had a few glitters that screamed out to me while I was searching around on Etsy to make a new purchase. One of them is Pumpkinlicious. Perfect for Autumn!

I started with two coats of Color Club Model Behavior. I normally only use 1 coat if I’m going to layer glitter over top but I wanted to swatch this color as well. You’re getting a twofer today! 🙂

It’s the perfect coppery colored undies for Pumpkinlicious, if you ask me.

Here’s Pumpkinlicious. I have one coat over top of Model Behavior.

This polish is full of burnt orange and gold holo glitter with green hexes. It’s in a clear base. I had to fish out the green hexes for a few of my nails. Overall I love it and will gladly wear this again for Thanksgiving.

What do you think of it?
