Connect the Dots

I was finally able to get my hands on one of the Lynnderella’s I’ve been wanting for awhile. Connect the Dots! I’m not a huge fan of her polishes mainly because of the price tag on them. This polish is listed on Ebay for $22 and up. I can’t afford to get addicted to a brand of polish with that kind of price tag. A lot of girls do (and spend even more!) but it’s not in my tiny budget as a stay at home mom.

Buuuut! That’s where Facebook swap groups are awesome! One night I found someone selling a few of her Lynnderella’s. I snatched this one up for a much better resale price of $15. I’m hoping to come across Love, Lace, and Lilacs one day for a good price too. She was also selling that one but someone had faster fingers than I did.

Connect the Dots is packed full of different shapes and sizes of black and white glitter in a shimmery clear base. The shimmer is very subtle. I layered one coat of this over top of China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise.

Image I thought this black and white polish would look good layered over a Turquoise. What color would you layer this over?

Image ImageSince Lynnderella’s creation of this polish, there have been a lot of dupes to come out. I know off the top of my head that Sephora has a glitter topper called Chaotic for around $12. It’s a very close dupe and I’ve almost bought it several times.

Alright, now I need to get off this computer and start coming up with my idea for “Inspired by a Pattern” mani for tomorrows challenge. See ya all tomorrow! 🙂

Pink Plumeria

Happy Wednesday everyone! We’ve made it half way through the week :). Woohoo!

Today will be the last of my “month of untried” polishes. I’m going to still try to use my untried polishes more often but with the February Nail Art Challenge coming up, it’s going to be hard for me to only use them.

Today I’m wearing China Glaze Pink Plumeria and on my ring finger I have an accent of Glistening Snow stripes.

ImageI like this one. I haven’t worn Pink Plumeria before but it’s similar to a lot of the other pinks I have. Which is probably why I’m never drawn to wearing it. I like it though. I’m a fan of bright pinks so this is up my alley.

For my ring finger, I painted two coats of Glistening Snow and let that dry while I was painting my other nails with Pink Plumeria. I used three pieces of striping tape to create the lines, then just painted two coats of Pink Plumeria over top and ripped the tap off (slowly) while Pink Plumeria was still wet.

Glistening Snow is a micro silver holographic glitter polish in a clear base. It feels very gritty when it’s dry before you add a top coat. The holo wasn’t as strong as I was expecting with this one. But it is really pretty. I almost wish I wouldn’t have covered it so much lol.

ImageI’ll be back Friday with my first ever attempt at Galaxy Nails for day one of the challenge. I’m excited to be doing another one of these again.

Also, if you haven’t entered the giveaway yet… go do it! There are 10 great prize packs 🙂Giveaway

It’s a Trap-eze!

Today I have a glitter bomb of colors for you! It’s a Trap-eze is one of the new colors by China Glaze from the Cirque du Soleil collection.

The whole line is really pretty but It’s a Trap-eze really stood out to me. It’s unlike the other a`polishes I already own. It’s a white milky base packed full of yellow, pink, green, white, blue, and orange glitters. I think, that’s all the colors I see lol.

ImageI’m wearing two coats of It’s a Trap-eze! with one coat of Glisten and Glow HK Girl top coat. It is a bit of a top coat eater so if you like your polish very glossy then you may want to apply a couple of layers of top coat on this one.

ImageOverall I really like this one. I know you can purchase it at Sally’s but all of my local Sally’s were sold out. A friend of mine found it in hers and sent it to me. So I got lucky :).

Before I get into my post I’d like to just take a moment to remember all the poor helpless children and adults that were killed in the horrific shooting in Connecticut today. My heart is broken for their parents and families. I know I’m hugging my little J a lot tighter tonight. I can’t even imagine what those parents are going through right now. RIP

It’s almost hard for me to continue with my post after that. I don’t normally get so caught up and attached to events like this. It must be because my baby is so close in age to all of those poor, innocent children.

Well today’s theme is Snowman. My Snowman looks a little angry. Maybe because he’s missing his pipe. 🙂

ImageI used 2 coats of OPI I Have A Herring Problem as my background color. Julep Kate, Vera, Brandt, and Parker make up the snowman and the snow and I used China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise for his fancy scarf.

Neon nails

Before I get into my post I want to just do a quick reminder to make sure everyone has entered my giveaway! There are still a few hours left :). Good luck everyone who has entered!

I decided on neon nails today. I know, it’s not summer. But I miss my neons. Plus, it feels like summer here in Florida!

ImageI love the way they turned out. I used China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy for the neon pink and Julep Patti for the black glittery accent nail.

My only problem was with Flip Flop Fantasy. This was my 2nd or 3rd time wearing this polish but it was so goupy and difficult to work with this time. I don’t know what happened to it. I added a bunch of thinner to try to make it easier to work with but even that didn’t help. I’m going to have to toss this bottle and buy a new one, I suppose. Has anyone else had this same problem with this polish?

An awesome bonus to this mani was that I went to Disney today and my nails were glowing under the black lights on the rides. 🙂 My little man thought that was fun lol.

Giveaway time!

Hi everyone! Welcome to my first giveaway. I’m really excited for this. I’ve received a lot more love on my blog than I ever thought I would and I appreciate you all for that :). November Nail Art Challenge- Day 8

Welcome back! It’s been a hectic week around here. I hope all of my American followers had a great Thanksgiving. I know I’m still full from all of the yummy food. 🙂

Today is day 8 of the 10 week challenge. Gradient nails. This is my first ever attempted at a real gradient. Not a glitter one. It wasn’t that hard at all! I was expecting way worse lol.

My inspiration for my gradient colors are yesterday’s sunset. I’ve been trying to think of what colors I wanted to use for awhile now and yesterday on our way to our hotel the sun was setting and it was so beautiful. I choose to use OPI Fly, Venique Brighten Your Day!, and China Glaze Orange Knockout (neon), for my blue, pink, and orange.

It’s definitely not perfect and I can’t wait to try this out again to practice with it and try out new color combos, but overall I do love it. I started with a base of white polish also so that my colors really popped.

ImageTwo more days left in the challenge. Next I’ll be trying out my first water marble. Can’t wait to see how that turns out. Ha!

Check out what the other girls created for their gradient manis.

November Nail Art Challenge- Day 1

Happy November everyone! I hope you’re enjoying some nice weather where you live. It’s been beautiful here in sunny Florida. I’m actually enjoying Fall for a change.

The lovely Erica and Erica’s Nails and More has set up another great Nail Art Challenge for this month. I’ve been too nervous to try any challenges in the past, but I’m getting a bit better with my nail art and swatches so I figured I’d join in this time around.

The great thing about the challenge this time around is that it’s a 10 day challenge instead of 30-31 days. Every third day the theme will change. So it give you some time to enjoy your beautiful nail art! Here’s the list of the months challenges.

So here we are, day 1. A rainbow challenge. I wanted to do something besides your typical “draw a rainbow on your nails.” I came up with a few different ideas but ended up deciding on a Saran Wrap Mani. I figured this would be a fun way to incorporate the colors of the rainbow.

The colors I used in this mani are as follows:

  1. Orange- China Glaze Orange Knockout (neon)
  2. Yellow- Sally Hanson Xtreme Wear Mellow Yellow
  3. Purple- Sinful Colors Dream On
  4. Blue- Sinful Colors Why Not
  5. Green- Julep Emilie
  6. Red- Julep Molly

You can also find this picture on Erica’s FB page

Over all I think it turned out pretty good. It doesn’t scream “rainbow” but does incorporate all of the colors in a rainbow. What do you think?

Creepy Eyes

Halloween is right around the corner so I wanted to get some Halloween mani’s in before it’s too late! I decided to try out my glow in the dark polish, China Glaze Ghoulish Glow. I have to admit that this mani is not an original idea. I’ve seen it floating around the internet so I’m not sure of the original source.

I started by painting my nails with a black polish. I used some unknown brand of black that I have. I applied Seche Vite so it would dry quickly.

Next I dipped a dotting tool in a white polish. I used Sinful Colors Snow Me White for this. I made two white dots on each finger close together to make the whites of the eye. Then I let that dry for a few minutes.

Once the white was fairly dry I used the same size dotting tool and dipped it in China Glaze Ghoulish Glow. I made dots of the white dots with with Ghoulish Glow so that the white would glow in the dark.

After that dried I dipped a smaller dotting tool back into the black polish and put black dots in the middle of the whites. You can make the eye balls going any direction you’d like. Have fun with it!

Here are my eye’s glowing!

I really love this one! What do you think of it? I hope you try it out for Halloween! XOXO

Purple Week – Day 5

So. Today is day 5 of purple week. But I’m not showing you a purple polish today. Want to know why? I dropped the purple I was going to use today and it busted all over the floor. 😥 Wahhhhh!

If I were going to show you a purple today it would have been China Glaze Flying Dragon. It’s a pretty purple neon. From what it looked like splattered on my nail it’s a matte purple with glitter. Here’s a picture I did get. RIP Flying Dragon.
