February Nail Art Challenge- Half Moon Mani

Hello everyone! Ready for more half moons? After I painted my nails for the half moon challenge last night, I realized that the colors are similar to the colors I used last time around for this same challenge lol. Super creative, huh?

9 Day Challenge February 2013

ImageIf you don’t remember (or if you’re one of my new followers) I used purple and gold last time. So not completely the same but similar.

ImageFor today’s half moons I used two coats of Julep Gayle as my base color. It’s a dark purple creme. Very pretty in the right light. I used circle stickers this time to help with my half moon. Last time I free handed it but it was a pain. I painted two coats of Essie Beyond Cozy for the top half of the half moon. Once that dried, which was fairly quick since it’s such a dense glitterful (I may have made that word up) polish, I used a small dotter and just made little dots around my moon shape in the same color purple, Gayle. Top coat it and you’re done!

February Julep Maven- Boho Glam

Happy Saturday! I hope you’re all enjoying your weekend so far. Ready for the Super Bowl tomorrow? I’m working on my mani for it right now.

Today I have the contents of my February Julep Maven box to show you. It’s not my typical unboxing that I normally do for you all so I apologize for that. I opened my box in the car on the run a few days ago then turned around and reused my box to mail some polishes to a friend (recycling!) before I took pictures of everything lol. So I’m just going to quickly show you what all came and swatches of the polish colors.

This month Julep included their new Oxygen Nail Treatment in the boxes (except for It Girl) and give us all an extra, the Freedom Polymer Top Coat.

Image

The Oxygen Nail Treatment says to use it once or twice a week on clean nails for a high gloss coverage and strong, healthy growth. Also, it says not to use it with any other polish. I think that has some of us a little confused because we were lead to believe it was similar to a base coat.  Maybe I made that up in my head, who knows lol. I figured I would try it out for the day before I start my Super Bowl mani.

ImageI’m not sure that I’ll notice any results after only a few hours of wearing it but I’ll give you all an update as I use it more often. As for the Freedom Top Coat, I’m not going to test that out until next month. With the nail challenge going on this month, I’m not going to have time to give it the wear test.

The polish colors I received this month are Julianne (named after Julianne Moore) and Ingrid (named after Ingrid Bergman).

ImageJulianne is a smoky grey blue creme and Ingrid is a burnt orange creme. I’m a huge fan of creme polishes so they were both perfect for me. I swatched them on swatch sticks so you could get an idea of the color. I don’t plan on wearing these just yet but maybe I’ll be able to incorporate them into my nail art sometime this month.

ImageJulep also added a couple of little extras this month (on top of the top coat!). I didn’t snap a picture of them but they added a cute little eye lash curler and some chocolate hearts. The chocolate hearts were gone as soon as I opened my box, thanks hubby. I haven’t used the eye lash curler yet but I’m excited to try it out.

February Nail Art Challenge- Galaxy Nails

Happy February everyone! This year is just flying through already, huh? lol Today is the start of Erica’s Nails and More’s February Nail Art Challenge. Most of you may remember but I joined in on one of these last year and it was so much fun. It really made me venture out into nail art. I was super excited to do it again.

Image

Here’s the plan for the month. Today we’re starting off with Galaxy Nails.

I’m a huge fan of these nails. I’ve never attempted at them before today but I love finding them on blogs, Pintrest, and Youtube. Here are my recreation:

How do you think they turned out? Do they look like galaxies?

For this creation I used one coat of Color Club Revvvolution (although my Revvvolution doesn’t look like other swatch pictures of it I’ve seen). When that dried I sponged Sinful Colors Snow Me White, Why Not, and Maybelline Enchanted Wine on my nails. I dabbed Sally Hansen Strobe Light on the black spaces left on my nails to give it some sparkle.

Check out all the other girls beautiful galaxy nails in the InLinkz below:

Pink Plumeria

Happy Wednesday everyone! We’ve made it half way through the week :). Woohoo!

Today will be the last of my “month of untried” polishes. I’m going to still try to use my untried polishes more often but with the February Nail Art Challenge coming up, it’s going to be hard for me to only use them.

Today I’m wearing China Glaze Pink Plumeria and on my ring finger I have an accent of Glistening Snow stripes.

ImageI like this one. I haven’t worn Pink Plumeria before but it’s similar to a lot of the other pinks I have. Which is probably why I’m never drawn to wearing it. I like it though. I’m a fan of bright pinks so this is up my alley.

For my ring finger, I painted two coats of Glistening Snow and let that dry while I was painting my other nails with Pink Plumeria. I used three pieces of striping tape to create the lines, then just painted two coats of Pink Plumeria over top and ripped the tap off (slowly) while Pink Plumeria was still wet.

Glistening Snow is a micro silver holographic glitter polish in a clear base. It feels very gritty when it’s dry before you add a top coat. The holo wasn’t as strong as I was expecting with this one. But it is really pretty. I almost wish I wouldn’t have covered it so much lol.

ImageI’ll be back Friday with my first ever attempt at Galaxy Nails for day one of the challenge. I’m excited to be doing another one of these again.

Also, if you haven’t entered the giveaway yet… go do it! There are 10 great prize packs 🙂Giveaway

Sparkly Markaly

I have polish on! Haha! Man, I missed my nails being painted.

Yesterday I got Sparkly Markaly from Whimsical Nail Polish by Pam in the mail. Just in time :). For some reason the post office was taking their sweet time getting this package to me. But I think they just knew I wasn’t going to be able to wear it until Friday so they delayed the package to help me out. That’s my story any how.

I have 2 other polishes from Pam and I love them. I haven’t been disappointed yet and I always get tons of complements from random people when I wear them. Sparkly Markaly is no exception. It’s stunning and I wore it to a get together last night and everyone keep complementing me on it.

ImageCheck this baby out. Beautiful, huh? This polish is from her “My Whimsical Valentine” collection. It’s a red jelly packed full of red glitter. It makes me think of Dorthy’s shoes from The Wizard of Oz. I’m wearing 3 coats of this polish and two coats of G&G HK Girl Top Coat.

Image ImageShe released 50 of this Limited Edition labeled bottle. The label was created by her nephew. I was lucky enough to snag bottle number 25 :).

Image

You can visit her Facebook page to see her whole collection and order your own. I do know that Sparkly Markaly is sold out that this time. She’s waiting on another shipment of the glitter to create more. It was such a popular one! I believe she will still take your order for it but will not invoice you until she has more of the polish made and ready to ship.

Day Three: Naked Challenge

Hi there! Sorry I didn’t post this yesterday. I know you all were on the edge of your seats waiting LOL :).

I finished the three day challenge and couldn’t wait to get polish back on. At first I didn’t think I noticed much difference. Other than the fact that my nails looked less dry. I still have issues with the skin around my nails at the edge being dry and hard. It makes me want to bite at them, but I’ve been good. It did take care of my hangnails though! That is pretty amazing. I just need to keep up with this better routine of nourishing my nails.

So here we go. My after pictures.

Image

ImageWhat do you think? I really didn’t notice the hangnails were gone until I painted my nails last night. That was amazing because they would royally suck when it came to clean up if I had the slightest bit of polish on them.

I put together a before and after picture of the three days too. You can notice the difference a bit more here.

ImageSo now I need to put sticky notes all over the place reminding me to oil up! :).

I forgot to link in the site I purchased this oil from when I started the challenge so I wanted to make sure to do it today in case any of you are interested in purchasing after seeing my results. Just head over to http://www.simplenailarttips.com/products/pure-cuticle-oil and you can read up more on this oil, the ingredients, the creators results, whatever you’re looking for. The starter kit cost $24.

I’ll be back later to post some color on my nails!!!

Day Two: Naked Challenge

Hi there! Are you ready for today’s results of my naked challenge?

Before I show you the pictures I have to be honest. I’ve had a hard time keeping up with the oil today. I’ve been on the road almost all day house hunting. Which meant getting little man in and out of his car seat 8 times today. As soon as I put oil on, I rubbed it off. So I gave up at one point and just said I’ll oil up really well when I get home. But I have to say, even without oiling up all day they’re still pretty nourished looking.

Image

Image

My nails normally grow pretty quick so I can’t tell if it’s the oil or not, but my thumb nail on my left hand has definitely grown since I started this two days ago. I know this because of the part of my nail that’s ripped off. I want to cut my nail to make it even but I’m trying to see how much growth I have by the end of the three days (tomorrow). So I’m just going to let it bug me for one more day. 🙂

Here are before and day one pictures.

NBLBNBLB3

So I’ll be back tomorrow with the final results! And let me tell you. I can’t wait to paint my nails again. I was kind of in a polish funk before I started this challenge so I was wearing the same polish I put on quickly Saturday afternoon before I went to a hockey game then took it off Tuesday to start this challenge. I’m ready to put some color back on these babies!

Day One: Naked Challenge

Hola! Are you all ready to see what progress (if any) has been made from the Pure Cuticle Oil?

Tell me what you think so far. I took these pictures around the same time as I did yesterday to keep it consistent. I’m going to try to do the same again tomorrow but I have a busy day ahead of me.

ImageImage

Here are yesterday’s pictures for reference:

Image

It definitely looks to me like some of the staining is going away which is awesome! I don’t have so much dry skin on the side of my nails on the left hand. So far I’m impressed. Although I do have to say that I don’t normally oil up as much as I have in the past day. My nails are just soaking up the oil. I have to reapply about every 45 mins to an hour.

Having a two year old to chase around makes it hard too. I feel like I keep washing or rubbing the oil off. Here’s an idea of how much I’ve used in the past 24 hours.

ImageSo that is my store of how day one went 🙂
